Location: MagNet Ház, Budapest, Hungary
We invite all djembe lovers to a special event on the 29th of October at the Mag-net Ház in Budapest, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the history, structure and of course the playing technique of this percussion instrument, which is native to West Africa. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced djembe drummer, we look forward to welcoming you to the much-loved Kelvin Kew’s workshop in October.
A classically trained Singapore-born musician and a percussion graduate of Los Angeles Music Academy, Kelvin began his study with Mamady in 2006 and have since committed his entire musical career around the djembe. He established TTM Singapore shortly after he achieved his accreditation as a Certified Teacher with TTM in 2008 and became Vice President of the Tam Tam Mandingue Djembe Academy in 2013 (https://www.ttmda.com/kelvin-kew)
Nowadays, Kelvin is working to promote djembe rhythms and djembe teaching worldwide as the leader of the TTM Djembe Academy and this autumn he will finally visit Hungary to bring a full-day workshop offering a broad insight into the world of djembe rhythms for all lovers of the instrument. The event also aims to provide a fantastic opportunity to open a school in Budapest, as the Eastern European headquarters of the TTM Djembe Academy.
